Polyurethane Coiled Tubing
Polyurethane coil tubing is a highly flexible, self-storing, spiral-shaped tube made from durable and high-quality polyurethane. The polyurethane spiral coils offer the same benefits as polyurethane tubing but provide customizable retractability. The polyurethane coil tube is best known for its exceptional kink resistance, abrasion resistance, and “memory” to retract back to the coiled shape, making this ideal for many pneumatic systems. Coil diameter plays a very significant role in retractability, as the smaller and tighter the coil diameter, the snappier and more retractable the coil becomes.
Polyconn is a leading supplier of polyurethane coil tubes and offers a range of types to suit various applications. Questions? Consult our catalog or contact our sales team to find the right polyurethane coil hose for your application today!
Polyurethane Coiled Tubing Overview
Polyconn offers top coiled tubing made from flexible polyurethane to perform well for many applications requiring durability and flexibility. Polyurethane performs well in coiled form with elastic memory and repeated flex cycles, giving it the ability to retract back to its coiled shape. Polyurethane features flexibility, allowing a working length of 80-90% of the actual material length. The retracted length or outer coil diameter may be important in applications where the coil rests over a pole or retracts into a box. Standard size polyurethane coiled tubing has two straight “tails” at 8” and 16” to ease the use of coils with diameters. The polyurethane spiral coils are available in multiple forms, all of which offer resistance to kinking, abrasion, and repeated flexing. What Are the Differences Between Polyurethane Coiled Tubing and Nylon Tubing?
The coiled shape with top resistance, durability, and flexibility of polyurethane coil tube offers many differences compared to that of nylon tubing. Polyurethane coils stretch farther relative to their length and retract more smoothly after repeated use. The polyurethane material provides a tolerance of bending and flexing over time. Nylon coils are stiffer with a shorter usable working length of 67-75%. The nylon material resists deformation but does not snap back as easily.Industrial Applications for Polyurethane Coiled Tubing
The retractability, abrasion resistance, and flexibility of polyurethane spiral coils make this the ideal tubing for various industries and applications. With the flexibility and self-storing tubing, this is ideal for many pneumatic options in both indoor and light industrial environments, such as manufacturing or maintenance areas. Common industrial applications for polyurethane coiled tubing include:- Air lines for tools
- Pneumatic equipment
- Automation and assembly lines
- Control lines for moving robotic arms
- Fluid transfer systems such as fuel lines, feed/return lines, and transferring slurries or granules
- Industrial workstations
